The BIBLE HOUSE is a card table on PVC stilts with homemade cloth (giraffe design) cover.
I did not have a pattern. I just measured the top of the table for the top of the house and added a few inches for the seam. I then measured all the way around the table and sewed it together (one seam only). I made my own pattern for the window. I used a heavy plastic for the window and sewed a binding around the plastic and then sewed that to the side of the house and then cut away the back. I did this to protect the plastic from being torn away from the cloth. I also made my pattern for the door and put a binding around the door. I should have cut the binding on a bias, but was trying to save cloth. I suggest you make or buy bias binding for a better look.
I told the children that they didn't have stoves, so I made a fire pit with rocks, a fire made with red, yellow, and orange pieces of plastic tied together at the bottom. The stand is 2 toilet plungers covered on the bottom with green (brown or grey would look fine too) felt bound together at the top with rubber bands. My husband made two wooden pegs near the tops of the poles to hold the cross pole. A black plastic halloween pot was our cooking pot. Two of our girls dressed as Mary and Elizabeth. Air drying clay would make good dishes for more authenticity.
